This is a wonderful example of the PT community working together to make a difference.

F. A. Davis Company’s comprehensive online continuing education information resource and social networking Web site for physical therapy professionals – DavisPTnetwork – joined with the Foundation for Physical Therapy to help raise money for physical therapy research. In recognition of all new DavisPTnetwork members who signed up during the 3-month membership campaign drive, F. A. Davis has made a donation of $1,000 to the Foundation for Physical Therapy. There is no cost to join DavisPTnetwork, and currently there are over 2,600 members.

“The Foundation for Physical Therapy would like to thank DavisPTnetwork for using their recent membership campaign as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the Foundation,” says Robert J. Brennan, Executive Director of the Foundation for Physical Therapy. “We also would like to extend our appreciation to all who participated in supporting the Foundation and DavisPTnetwork in this effort.”

“We’re pleased that we were able to help the Foundation for Physical Therapy successfully raise both awareness and funds for the important PT research their organization supports,” says Margaret Biblis, F.A. Davis Publisher, Professions/Medicine. “This is a wonderful example of the PT community working together to make a difference.”

The mission of the Foundation for Physical Therapy the principal and only nationwide physical therapy foundation—is to fund research that supports the development of evidence-based physical therapist practice, enhance the quality of physical therapist services for patients and clients, and increase the number of physical therapist researchers. The Foundation was established in 1979 as a national, independent, nonprofit corporation to support the physical therapy profession's research needs in three areas: scientific research, clinical research, and health services research.

Launched in February 2009, DavisPTnetwork has been providing PT professionals from around the world with a unique opportunity for social networking and professional collaboration, as well as online continuing education. Membership to the DavisPTnetwork social networking community is free. Additionally, there is a wide range of affordable (starting at $45 per course), peer-reviewed courses offered at the site. With support available 24/7, PTs and PTAs can take these online CE courses at their convenience.
