The day after the flood, I watched our employees stare in disbelief at how fast life changes. I’ve spent the last three months staring in disbelief at the resolve and dedication of this incredible family

Green Pastures Landscape Company, a Nashville based landscape and irrigation company, was one of the many businesses that were devastated by the recent flooding in Middle Tennessee over the weekend of May 1-2, 2010. Green Pastures is owned by David Shore, and employs 35 people, many of whom have been with the company for more than a decade. The company was founded in 1992 and its facility is located in the Space Park South industrial complex in south Nashville. Green Pastures is literally on the banks of Mill Creek, one of the major tributaries of the Cumberland River that was swollen by over 20 inches of rain over the two day period. Their offices, shop, greenhouses, 16 trucks, and every piece of equipment were under water. Saturday afternoon, several employees attempted to move the company’s plant inventory to safety, but as water rose by the minute, they found themselves in need of rescue.
Monday morning when the flood waters receded, all the employees and many friends pitched in for the initial cleanup. Shore commented, “The day after the flood, I watched our employees stare in disbelief at how fast life changes. I’ve spent the last three months staring in disbelief at the resolve and dedication of this incredible family”. With no flood insurance the rebuilding process has been slow. The offices and shop have not been completed yet, but most of the trucks were replaced, equipment repaired, and before long it was business as usual.
Green Pastures wishes to thank their employees and so many friends, old and new, for helping in such a time of need.
