Grizz is affectionately known as a “gentle giant” due to his 7ft frame. His professional career as a celebrity personal bodyguard took an amazing turn when he accepted an acting role as part of Tracy Jordan’s (played by Tracy Morgan) 2-person entourage on NBC’s Emmy award winning show 30 Rock. Grizz has also appeared in several commercials including; New York State Lottery, and Monster.com. His movie credits include ‘College Road Trip’ starring Martin Lawrence; ‘Harold’ starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.; ‘Notorious’ featuring Derek Luke, and ‘A Perfect Holiday’ with Morris Chestnut, Gabrielle Union, and Queen Latifah.
Chapman was diagnosed with high blood pressure a decade ago. He learned several years later that he was suffering from kidney disease. After two years of suffering from a form of chronic kidney disease know as end stage renal failure—and seven months after going public with his plight—the actor has successfully undergone a kidney transplant. Until his transplant, he was on dialysis three times a week.
As an inspirational speaker, Grizz shares tips on perseverance, tenacity and taking control of your life to reach the heights of success; personally and professionally. He uses his life experiences as an example that pure will, courage and determination can get you anywhere you want to go in life.
He is currently taping season five of 30 Rock, will serve as an Ambassador for the National Kidney Foundation walk in New York City on October 17, 2010 and travels empowering others through his personal appearances.
