Until recently, international firms in the Nanjing area of eastern China or local firms wishing to go global had little or no choice when it came to making promotional videos and films that meet international standards in terms of production and creativity. Now, a one stop service from Scottish company SinoConnexion Ltd offers cost effective video solutions for a variety of applications, such as event coverage, marketing efforts, employee training and general company introduction.

Chinese promotional films are generally ideological in approach; our clients want to keep the message specific. Local companies also tend to favour videos that are extremely self praising whereas foreign entities far prefer the soft sell approach

Small British firm SinoConnexion Ltd. is fast becoming the media producer of choice for international entities operating in the Nanjing area of Jiangsu province, China. Large cultural differences exist in the way media messages are consumed by Chinese and foreigners, and this also applies to the methods used by companies to promote themselves through video.

The British School of Nanjing was looking to enhance its marketing effectiveness through the use of online video and DVD. After considering several local media producers and a Shanghai based foreign media co., the school felt SinoConnexion to be best suited to film and produce seven separate videos that stylistically reinforce strong traditional British values as well as successfully educating potential parents on the modern English school curriculum and methods of teaching.

SinoConnexion shall be the official video producer for the Nanjing International Auto Expo running from September 28 to Oct 4. The expo organizers required a film with an international look that can be used to attract more foreign auto brands to appear at the show which this year shall see an estimated 250,000 visitors. A 30 second TV commercial spot shall also be produced and shall air next year on local and national Chinese TV with the aims of attracting domestic Chinese brands and increasing visitor numbers.

"Chinese promotional films are generally ideological in approach; our clients want to keep the message specific. Local companies also tend to favour videos that are extremely self praising whereas foreign entities far prefer the soft sell approach", said SinoConnexion Production Director Frank Hossack, a four time New York Festival award winner who has been living and working in China since 1993.

SinoConnexion Ltd. is headquartered in Nairn in the Scottish Highlands and operates in China through its Chinese subsidiary Nanjing Hefu Cultural Media Co. Ltd. SinoConnexion also provides internet advertising, social media promotion and a range of design services to expats and international companies in Nanjing and all over the Yangtze River Delta.
