Kaplan Early Learning Company has donated $30,000 in playground equipment and installation services to the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem.
The new playground equipment, an elaborately designed maze of slide, decks and climbing walls, was erected at the Ronald McDonald House in conjunction the 18-bedroom addition that opened this week.
“The new playground is vital in helping us provide a home away from home,” said Mindy Bloom, Director of Development for the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem. “It will provide a place for children and families to relax and rejuvenate their spirits.”
“For families that are far from home during stressful and difficult times, our hope is that the playground helps them experience a sense of normalcy, hope and comfort while staying at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Matthew Marceron, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Kaplan Early Learning Company. “Play can be magical. We hope the playground puts a smile on the faces of young guests and a better feeling in the hearts of families going through trying times.”
The playground is a wonderful gift that hundreds of families will have the opportunity to enjoy each year,” said Bloom. Annually, the Ronald McDonald House and Family Room of Winston-Salem provides lodging to nearly 600 families and supports over 21,000 visits from family and friends of children being treated at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center or Forsyth Medical Center. The new addition will allow them to serve almost 700 more families each year.
