Comfort blankets provide security and healing to children in hospital.

Children cherish comfort blankets. Last week Joyce Anne Longfellow, Co-Owner of Children’s Dental Village and Beverly Adams, Chief Operating Officer, delivered twenty-four colorful, hand-made comfort blankets to Cardon Children’s Medical Center. Sue Eaton, Sr. Manager, Child Life Department, Amy Funk-Herrera, Child Life Specialist and Meredith Jenkins, Child Life Assistant, received the blankets and said they will be given to children during their stay at the medical center and go home with them when they are discharged.

Having a security blanket available helps children adapt to new situations and aids their healing. Joyce Anne and Beverly learned about the Cardon Children’s Medical Center wish list through their membership on the Banner Community Council. The staff at Children’s Dental Village created the “blanky” project as part of their ongoing community outreach projects – each making a fleece blanket. Please contact Sue Eaton at 480-412-8158 to learn about other items on the Cardon wish list. You can make a difference in the lives of children during their hospital stay.

Children’s Dental Village was founded in 1973, by Dr. Alan Longfellow. Today Dr. Longfellow, Dr. Padilla and their staff provide basic pediatric dental care as well as full orthodontics and comprehensive dentistry for children from infants through the teen years. They take great pride in being an active part of each child’s total health team.
