Dr. Valerie Laing, board-certified dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery, is opening her private practice, Laing Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, P.A., located at 6731 Knightdale Blvd., Suite C, Knightdale, NC 27545. The expected opening date is early December 2010. For nearly two decades, Dr. Laing has practiced throughout the Triangle and Triad. She was the first Mohs surgeon in Eastern North Carolina.
Laing Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center will offer an array of skin care services, focusing on the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. In addition, the full service dermatology practice will offer Triangle area residents of all ages therapy for acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, warts, and other common skin problems. Dr. Laing will also perform a variety of anti-aging cosmetic procedures, including BOTOX®, fillers such as Restylane® and Juvéderm®, and chemical peels. Unique and specialized services will include dermoscopy of suspicious moles.

Dr. Laing completed a three-year residency in dermatology at UNC Hospitals. She then undertook an intensive fellowship in Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at University Associates in Louisville, KY under a protége of Dr. Fred Mohs. Following training, Dr. Laing returned to North Carolina and founded the Mohs Surgery Unit at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She has been practicing dermatology and Mohs surgery since 1993. Dr. Laing has treated more than 20,000 skin cancers over the past twenty years.
