We're thrilled to be working with RAC to help their customers plan their trips more effectively. From today users of Microsoft's latest web browser, Internet Explorer 8, can receive online updates from car insurance and breakdown cover specialist RAC at the drop of a hat, allowing them to stay informed up to the very last minute before setting out on a long journey.
RAC Web Slices bring external website content direct into the users page without needing to open new tabs and search. They provide both the latest motoring news directly from RAC and real time traffic alerts for their chosen region.
Users of Internet Explorer 8 will have everything they need at their fingertips as they put the final touches to planning their trip. A targeted search box also allows users to search the entire RAC site for content directly from the browser.
"At RAC, we're all about helping drivers get the most out of motoring and making their time on the roads an enjoyable and stress-free experience," said Chris Bates, Head of Marketing at RAC. "Our technological expertise and ongoing development of new web tools meant creating a customised version of Internet Explorer 8 for RAC was a natural fit. The Web Slices we've created with Microsoft give people easy access to our daily stream of motoring related news and also let drivers check the status of the roads before setting out on a journey - in fewer clicks from their 'favourites' bar."
Julia Owen, Internet Explorer Product Manager at Microsoft added: "We're thrilled to be working with RAC to help their customers plan their trips more effectively. Internet Explorer 8 is the world's most popular browser on Windows* and the new RAC Web Slices will help people create a bespoke browsing experience equipped with free tools to overcome some of the challenges of Britain's driving environment."
