Healthcare IT leaders to explore emerging technologies and clinical applications.

With mobile device technology and applications rapidly advancing in healthcare, we thought it was important to start a dialogue about the issues and opportunities with industry leaders from different perspectives.

Voalté, a leader in point-of-care communication technology, will be one of the sponsors of Smith Seckman Reid, Inc.’s Mobile Healthcare Technology Summit. The event, which will be held Sept. 30 at Belmont University’s Massey Business Center in Nashville, Tenn., will explore how mobile healthcare technology is impacting healthcare design, clinical practice and the future of healthcare.

A panel of healthcare technology experts will discuss how today’s mobile technology can improve efficiency and quality of care in the acute care setting.

“With mobile device technology and applications rapidly advancing in healthcare, we thought it was important to start a dialogue about the issues and opportunities with industry leaders from different perspectives,” said Scott Johnson, vice president, communications planning for Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. “We hope to gain insight about the guidelines needed for best practices, legal implications and maximizing impact on patient safety and staff efficiencies.”

Among the panel of experts are Joyce Sensmeier, MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, vice president of healthcare information and management systems society at HIMSS, the largest U.S. not-for-profit healthcare association focused on providing global leadership for the optimal use of information technology; Dr. Divya Shroff, FHM, clinical transformation officer vice president, Clinical Services Group HCA; Dr. Brian Rothman, assistant professor VUMC associate director of perioperative informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center; Scott Cebula, former CIO for Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Calif., president of Cebula IT Consulting.
