Only 10 days until IFP/Chicago’s fourth annual Independent Film Gala. Purchase your tickets now for the Friday, September 24, 2010 event at http://www.ifpchicago.org. A limited number of tickets are still available for $150 each. Last year’s event sold out days before!
The 2010 Independent Film Gala is an exciting red carpet event that is attended by the who’s who of the independent film community, supporters of the independent film community and many of Chicago’s brightest. It is one night not to be missed! The evening will begin with a VIP reception at 6:00 p.m. hosted by IFP/Chicago’s Honoree, Tribeca Enterprises (invite only), followed by regular admission beginning at 6:45 p.m. Attendees will have plenty of room to eat, drink, network and dance the night away in Excalibur’s spacious and newly renovated private event space. Beverage sponsors, including Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Jan’s Premium Herbal Liqueur, Russian Standard Vodka and Stella Artois, will provide cocktails.
In celebration of their many ventures supporting and promoting independent film, independent filmmakers and the independent film community, IFP/Chicago is proud to honor Tribeca Enterprises this year. Tribeca Enterprises co-founders Craig Hatkoff and Jane Rosenthal, producer of numerous films including Wag the Dog and the comedy franchise Meet the Parents, will be in attendance, along with many others from Tribeca and the filmmaking community.
In addition to food, drinks and mingling, gala attendees will have a chance to bid on an impressive array of silent and live auction items, including a Cancun getaway for two with hotel and airfare, a set visit and tour for one of the number one rated shows on TV - Glee, a New York excursion that includes tickets to The Daily Show and a one-of-a-kind trip to attend the Independent Spirit Awards Nominee Reception with hotel & airfare – an event that is normally reserved only for nominated and award-winning filmmakers, actors and specially selected VIPs. Also, one lucky winner of the popular split-the-pot raffle could walk away with thousands of dollars. The winner will be announced at the event, but does not need to be present to win. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the event or in advance from the IFP/Chicago office at 312-506-4699.
All proceeds will go toward sustaining and expanding IFP/Chicago’s services and programs serving filmmakers and the filmmaking community throughout the Midwest, including a very successful mentorship program. For the past six years, the IFP/Chicago mentorship program has produced an entirely student-created film with underserved Chicago youth. IFP/Chicago’s Mentorship films have won many awards, including the Student Award of Excellence for Technical Achievement from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences two years in a row – an honor achieved by only one other school in history.
IFP/Chicago is committed to the idea that independent film is an important art form and a powerful voice in our society. IFP provides resources, information and avenues of communication for independent filmmakers, industry professionals and independent film enthusiasts in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. We encourage quality and diversity in independent production and assist filmmakers at all levels of experience in realizing their unique vision.
