We believe this next-generation hosting should not be limited to a host-defined web-based control panel experience, but allow the customer to build their own customized user-driven solutions with the ability to access these tools using a variety of form factors.

Pasadena, CA (Vocus) September 15, 2010

DiscountASP.NET announces the release a Windows Phone 7 control panel starter kit and a Silverlight 4 control panel starter kit. The starter kits are both powered by Silverlight and allow hosting customers to manage some aspects of their hosting account through a Silverlight user interface and are extensible so customers can enhance the kits with their own custom features.

The starter kits include features such as SQL database backup, recycle application pool, and stop/start site. The full starter kit source code is available through the DiscountASP.NET blog at http://blog.discountasp.net

“We are releasing these starter kits as a proof of concept to demonstrate what is possible with our hosting platform and to provide a starting point for our customers so they can extend the code and add their own customization.” said Takeshi Eto, VP Marketing and Business Development at DiscountASP.NET. “We also hope to get feedback from the community which can help identify areas where we can improve our API support which in turn can drive improved future starter kit releases.”

Both of the starter kits make use of DiscountASP.NET’s control panel APIs, a standards-based ASP.NET web service API library which can be used to build web, desktop, or mobile applications that interface directly with a web hosting account.

“Our goal is to continually move toward a next-generation hosting experience.” added Takeshi Eto. “We believe this next-generation hosting should not be limited to a host-defined web-based control panel experience, but allow the customer to build their own customized user-driven solutions with the ability to access these tools using a variety of form factors.”
