Salon du Chocolat – A History of the Evolution of Chocolate

Halifax, NS welcomes the Culinary Tourism World Summit, a gathering of international culinary and tourism industry professionals, to the Halifax World Trade & Convention Centre beginning this Sunday, September 19th. The event features two days of sessions from renowned culinary and tourism leaders, interactive breakouts, and special events including a dinner that takes delegates on a journey through the cuisine of Nova Scotia.

Renowned keynote speakers include Robert Kenner, Producer and Director of Food Inc., who will make the opening address at the Halifax convention centre on Monday, September 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend the morning keynote, with tickets available for $30 per person. In the afternoon, Food Network Host Chef Michael Smith will speak on the Culinary Tourism World Summit theme of “One World, One Table.”

Also open to the public is the Monday Lobster Dinner, sponsored by Taste of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada Lobster, which is followed by chocolate sampling at the “Salon du Chocolat – A History of the Evolution of Chocolate” presented by the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site and MARS Chocolate. The dinner is open to the public at a cost of $125 per person + tax and tickets are available at Ticket Atlantic’s website.

During the two-day of Halifax meetings, delegates will participate in twenty sessions on themes such as culinary tours, social marketing, understanding consumer perceptions of “local,” and how destination marketing organizations work with culinary communities in their respective regions, including four international chefs and Patricia Lyall, President & CEO of Halifax, NS marketing organization Destination Halifax.
