Putting a new spin on the old first day of school assignment, TripCase, the award-winning mobile travel management application, analyzed where Americans flew for their vacations this summer.

The company found that Americans escaped to the northern half of the country to cool off and played near beaches on both coasts, but mostly stayed within the United States.

According to the data, the Top 20 destinations for U.S. vacation air travel this summer were:
1)    New York City
2)    Orlando
3)    Las Vegas
4)    Chicago
5)    Washington, D.C.
6)    Seattle
7)    Los Angeles
8)    Denver
9)    Cancun, Mexico
10)    Atlanta
11)    San Francisco
12)    Boston
13)    Dallas / Ft. Worth
14)    London, U.K.
15)    San Diego
16)    Honolulu
17)    Minneapolis
18)    Miami
