We'll be inviting the whole community to visit our website over the coming weeks
Chester, PA (Vocus) September 16, 2010
Chester Community Charter School (CCCS), the largest K-8 charter school in Pennsylvania, today announced that it has upgraded its website, http://www.chestercommunitycharter.org, to include a new layout for improved navigation; expanded levels of information about the school, general information about charter schools and the city of Chester; updates on the school’s lunch menu, weather and school closings; and a Parent’s Corner, which is designed to facilitate CCCS parents’ involvement with their children’s homework and at-home education.
The website’s new Parent’s Corner features tabs for: Homework Help, Parent’s Support, General Education Web Resources, Reading, Math, Science, Computers and Technology, Art, Music and Social Studies. The Homework Help and Parent’s Support tabs provide parents with links to websites such as the Children’s Health Insurance Program of Pennsylvania (CHIP), the National Parent Teacher Association, Homework and Study Tips and the National Geographic Homework Help. The school subject tabs for math, reading, science and other academic subject matter links parents to websites with dedicated exercises in each subject, potentially converting each family’s home to an extension of the school’s classrooms. Parent’s Corner also features an interactive Sites For Kids section, as well as breakfast, lunch and after-care snack menus.
Committed to technology-based support for its students, the school also has computer labs in each of its ten buildings, and an average of three computers per classroom.
Commenting on the new CCCS website, Steven E. Lee, the school’s chief executive officer, said, “To us, here, at Chester Community Charter School, we recognized, over time, that our former website was no longer communicating our ideas and goals to current and prospective parents and students well enough. While the old website was certainly adequate and functional, the new site is more user-friendly, and the content is more succinctly and attractively presented. I especially like the addition of the Parent’s Corner. We take pride in the fact that our parents are engaged, at an exceptionally high level, in their children’s education and it is our obligation to support their efforts on a one-on-one basis, and through the very latest technology-based systems.
“We’ll be inviting the whole community to visit our website over the coming weeks,” Lee added, “and we look forward to hearing their reactions.”
