Snapshot Scholar Awards $7,000 in Prizes to Stanford University Student and Stanford Research Group Tomorrow

Waqas Mustafeez won the inaugural Snapshot Scholar photo contest. – He formally receives the award at ceremony on Tuesday, September 21. – Mustafeez picked the Salleo Research Group to receive an additional $2,000 gift, which will be awarded directly to the department, at the same event. – The next Snapshot Scholar award contest will also be announced and kicks off on September 30th.

Hot Shot Media is pleased to present Stanford student, Waqas Mustafeez (wa-CUZ moo-STA-fez), and his University Department $7,000 in awards from Snapshot Scholar. The press event will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in the Durand Building on Stanford University’s campus.

As the winner of Snapshot Scholar, Mustafeez will receive a $5,000 award. Further, Mustafeez has chosen the Salleo Research Group in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Stanford University to receive an additional $2,000.

Mustafeez is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. When he is not in the lab playing with photons, he enjoys playing volleyball and photographing seascapes. Mustafeez fondly remembers the first time his father explained how to meter and expose on a Praktica manual SLR properly.

About Snapshot Scholar
Snapshot Scholar is a social photography photo contest. Community votes help to determine the top 30 photos. At that point, a panel of five celebrity judges will select one winning photo using skill-based criteria.

Students 18 years or older studying at any qualifying California educational institution can win financial assistance from Snapshot Scholar 2. Non-students are also welcome to participate. Students simply submit their photos to the Snapshot Scholar Web site to win an award for the department, club or Greek organization of their choice. The combined award for students is up to $10,000 for themselves, their school's department, and club or Greek organization. For non-students the prize is $1,000 for themselves.
