We are privileged to have been part of the growing semantic web community over the past 6 years, and to have helped inform and connect so many of its most influential participants. We thank everyone who has supported our conferences and events.
Studio City, CA (PRWEB) September 20, 2010
Semantic Universe LLC announced today the sale of its Semantic Technology Conference (SemTech) and SemanticUniverse.com web site to WebMediaBrands (Nasdaq: WEBM). Company founders Tony Shaw and Dave McComb will continue to take on active roles in expanding the event and publishing businesses for WebMediaBrands in the coming years.
SemTech is the world's largest conference on semantic technologies. It is the only event focused on the commercialization of semantic technologies, bringing the most recognized names, knowledge, leadership, and innovation in the semantic community together in one location. SemanticUniverse.com is a leading online journal in the field, featuring original articles, blogs, webcasts, news and other educational resources.
Shaw and McComb issued a joint statement saying "We are privileged to have been part of the growing semantic web community over the past 6 years, and to have helped inform and connect so many of its most influential participants. We thank everyone who has supported our conferences and events so strongly in the past, and we ask you to continue with us as semantic technology evolves into the mainstream of corporate systems and the web. We are very enthusiastic about the future, and about our new corporate home. Semantics is a transformative technology and it's exciting to continue our involvement at the forward edge of these developments."
“The Semantic Web is a rapidly growing technology that is affecting search marketing, retail marketing, and publishing and media markets” stated Alan M. Meckler, Chairman and CEO of WebMediaBrands. “SemTech was founded in 2005 and has become the main trade show for those interested in the future of Semantic Web developments in technology as well as commercial applications. WebMediaBrands already has one of the leading blogs covering the field, SemanticWeb.com, and has operated the Semantic Web Summit conference. By combining forces with Semantic Universe and SemTech, WebMediaBrands has become the definitive source of information for what appears to be one of the next great revolutions in Web search and marketing,” added Meckler.
Preparations for SemTech 2011 are already underway. Next year’s event will take place June 5 – 9, 2011 at the San Francisco Hilton in Union Square.
