The delegation was on a fact finding mission in Houston to get information regarding Professional Standards, Qualifications and Human Resources for Business Management and Professional Assessment Forms and Means of Business Management in the U.S.
Christi spoke to the delegation about the Community Association Institute and the field of community association management. During the discussion, Christi stressed the importance of specialized education and training for community managers through targeted course study. She explained the process that managers go through in their education and training to obtain the various designations:
•Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA® )
•Association Manager Specialist (AMS®)
•Large Scale Manager (LSM®)
•Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®)
Christi touched on the designations for Reserve Specialists, Insurance and Risk Managers and Attorneys specializing in the community association industry. She also addressed licenses required of community managers in certain states in the U.S. A lengthy question and answer session followed. The entire presentation was assisted by an interpreter provided by the City of Houston Mayor's Office of International Trade and Development.
