Terence “Teri” Estes, Candidate for the 360th District Court, wants automatic Standing Orders for every new family case filed in Tarrant County. Standing Orders would prevent the hiding of children and property.
Under the current judiciary, Tarrant County Family Court Judges grant emergency orders only after written request and thereafter, the requesting party hopes a process server can timely serve the opposing side giving notice to not hide children or property. The lapse in time leaves a parent wondering whether or not it’s safe to let children out of their sight. Additionally, assets that were once in the bank often meet with immediate withdrawals waiting for the Family Courts' actions to take effect.
In the case of missing children and assets, the Family Courts can’t hold the opposing side accountable for secreting kids or for the misappropriation of property without service of process. However, with Standing Orders the other side is liable regardless of service.
Teri says, “Justice needs to start at the time of filing for the safety of children and for the preservation of property.” (http://www.teriestescampaign.net)
Teri’s opponent, Michael Sinha, is part of the current judiciary.
