Online Travel Services: Booking Interface
McLean, VA (Vocus) September 20, 2010
Cvent, the world’s largest provider of online event management, meeting site selection and web survey solutions, is pleased to announce it was chosen as a 2010 Travel Weekly Magellan Award winner for the Cvent Supplier Network (CSN), a free online meeting site selection and sourcing tool. The Magellan Awards are the premier awards program for the travel industry, and are judged by a one-of-a-kind panel of top travel professionals representing the most accomplished leaders in the industry. CSN was selected out of hundreds of entries from around the world to receive a Magellan Award in the “Online Travel Services: Booking Interface” category. Other 2010 Magellan Award winners include TripAdvisor, American Express, Expedia Media, and Royal Caribbean.
“Over the past several years, our team has strived to make the Cvent Supplier Network a truly invaluable resource for the thousands of business and group travel planners that use the system,” said Eric Eden, Cvent’s Vice President of Marketing. “This accolade is a testament to the hard work of the entire Cvent team, and we are honored to be recognized by such an esteemed group of travel experts. We look forward to continuing to enhance the Cvent Supplier Network to ensure it remains the gold standard for booking meeting and event space.”
The Cvent Supplier Network is the most comprehensive database of event venues in the world, and is revolutionizing the venue sourcing process for meeting planners around the world. The tool allows planners to search detailed profiles of over 100,000 venues worldwide, send Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and compare bids with side-by-side reports. With CSN, planners can quickly and easily find the ideal venue for their meeting or event, leverage multiple quotes for the best deals and drastically cut costs. The system is the largest generator of group business leads in the world, and it is estimated that close to $1 billion in actual business will be awarded in the system for hotels and event venues in 2010. CSN goes hand-in-hand with the Cvent Destination Guide, the first and only destination-specific and free online travel guide designed exclusively for meeting planners that has more than 4,500 pages of information on over 150 destinations.
In determining Magellan Award winners, entries do not compete with one another, but rather are judged against a standard of excellence based on the experience and expertise of the judging panel. To uphold this high standard, a category may have multiple winners or no winners at all.
“This year’s Magellan award winners have once again raised the bar,” said Arnie Weissmann, Editor in Chief of Travel Weekly. “The overall caliber of entries this year was outstanding and we’re proud to salute this year’s winners, who represent a diverse and accomplished group of travel professionals and industry leaders.”
