Resource kicks off its series of industry-specific forums on Wednesday, September 22 at The Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen.

Resource, the Capital Region’s workforce investment board (WIB), will host a series of industry-specific forums this Fall and into next year, focusing on workforce needs and issues of Central Virginia’s workforce. The first of these forums will occur at The Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen, Wednesday, September 22nd, bringing together healthcare industry representatives from all over Central Virginia. Members of the press are invited to cover this event.

“The Richmond region will add over 200,000 healthcare jobs in the next decade, so we felt it was important to gather healthcare executives and HR leaders to discuss the unique challenges facing this industry,” said Rosalyn Key-Tiller, Executive Director of Resource.

The healthcare industry forum hosted by Resource will feature a panel of speakers including: Jerry Veneable, VP Human Resources, HCA Healthcare; Matt Harwick, Executive Director, Sunrise Senior Living at Bon Air; Barbara S. Brown, PhD, RN, Vice President, Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association; and La Kishah White, PHR, Manager Talent Acquisition, Bon Secours Richmond Health Systems.

More than one-third of all new jobs created in the Capital Region within the next 10 years will come from the healthcare sector. Resource and its partners plan on using the information gathered from this forum to support the formation of formal alliances with healthcare providers and develop a deeper understanding of high demand occupations to better serve the healthcare industry and job seekers.
