NFL and MLB Teams Reveal Deeper Commitment with ‘Fan Cans’- Featured Game Day Videos Aimed at Boosting Recycling and Environmental Education

NFL’s Detroit Lions and MLB’s Baltimore Orioles utilize eye-catching Fan Cans recycling receptacles in new educational fan communications that demonstrate strong environmental stewardship and the importance of fan involvement and interaction.

Fan Cans, LLC recently announced that NFL and MLB teams have featured their unique sports-themed recycling bins in public service announcement videos being played on game days at Ford Field in Detroit and Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The videos are aimed at reaching out to fans about the teams’ commitment to recycling, as well as how easy and important it is for fans to do their part by placing used bottles and cans into the Fan Cans receptacles located throughout each stadium. The Detroit Lions’ fan video features NFL Hall of Famer Charlie Sanders, as well as “Roary,” the team’s mascot, who shows fans how to recycle as he places an empty Pepsi bottle and can into a Lions-themed Fan Can. Sanders informs fans how they can save landfill space and reduce their impact on the environment by using the Fan Cans recycling bins located on the concourses and gate entrances throughout Ford Field.

The Orioles’ fan video features O’s players Jeremy Guthrie and Brian Matusz as they explain how Coca-Cola’s “Give It Back” recycling program takes used beverage containers and turns them into unexpected items such as t-shirts, jackets, bags and backpacks. The video shows fans of all ages actively placing their used bottles into the Orioles-themed Fan Cans.
