Engaging Children’s Book is an Official Entry at this Year’s Frankfurt International Book Fair

In anticipation of the prestigious Frankfurt International Book Fair, leading self-publisher Xlibris announced today the availability of Remembering Grandpa, the engaging children’s book about untimely departures, authored by Geraldine Haggard.

Remembering Grandpa is the story of Bernice, a little girl grieving over the departure of her grandfather. His unexpected death causes her great pain as she grew up being close to him. Nowadays, Bernice dreads going home, letting herself in and having no one to share the events of the day with. Because she loves her grandfather so much, she intends to keep the memories of him alive. Will this personal quest of hers be acceptable to others who knew her grandfather? The outcome awaits readers.

A session plan for use of the story is included for grief support leaders. The attributes of children of various ages are included with suggestions for helping these children. Guidelines for the use of books and a large bibliography of books are also included. The book can be a valuable resource for counselors and grief support facilitators.

In addition to its touching exploration of grieving children, Remembering Grandpa also features a plan for use by counselors, teachers, or group support facilitators, as well as an appendix that shares characters of grieving children by age groups. It also comes with special pages for parents and school personnel. This book will be showcased at the Frankfurt International Book Fair which will be held from October 6 to 10, 2010 in Germany.
