Tennessee plant produces announcements and diplomas for graduations worldwide

Employees at Jostens’ Shelbyville, Tennessee, Graduation Products facility will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the facility on September 25 at the plant, which is located approximately 50 miles southeast of Nashville. Students and schools from North America and around the world have looked to the Shelbyville graduation experts as their source for custom printed and engraved announcements and diplomas to recognize their important milestones in education.

“We would like to thank the community of Shelbyville and congratulate our Jostens’ employees on this historic occasion,” said Tim Larson, Jostens’ President and CEO. “Announcements and diplomas are essential symbols of academic achievement. We appreciate the care our employees take to help make each graduation a memorable experience.”

Jostens broke ground on the Shelbyville facility in July 1960 and the plant was dedicated at a community open house celebration on November 11 of the same year with a keynote address from then University of Tennessee President Andrew Holt. The following week, employees at the plant began producing engraved paper products for the education market.

Students have participated in the pomp and circumstance of the graduation ceremony for over 600 years. As the modern graduation has evolved, so have the graduation products produced by Jostens to help students, families and schools recognize and celebrate the graduation experience. Through innovation and creativity, Jostens and the Shelbyville Graduation Products facility are able to create personalized graduation announcements and diplomas that signify the culmination of academic achievement for students.

Jostens’ Shelbyville Graduation Products facility and Jostens’ yearbook printing plant located in Clarksville together employ over 500 full-time and seasonal workers on an annual basis in Tennessee. In addition to the Tennessee locations, Jostens operates six additional manufacturing locations in the United States including plants in Denton, Texas, Laurens, South Carolina, State College, Pennsylvania, Sedalia, Missouri, Topeka, Kansas, and Visalia, California.
