Since then I have continued to journal, write poetry and prose
Makawao, HI (Vocus) September 23, 2010
A beautiful healing journey is about to unravel as artist-writer Katharine Stone Ayers shares her poignant story in her newly published book, From Frozenness to Freedom. Some people may find healing in people, events, or places; others in art, music, writing, and creativity. But for the author, it is in the beautiful and colorful blend of painting, poetry, and introspection that she found personal healing.
In this intimate story of transformation, the author takes readers to a beautiful retreat center in Molokai. She invites everyone to follow her experience of how spontaneous intuitive painting opened doors to the unconscious and created healing. She tells readers about the process of painting and how she was guided through a life-changing experience.
“It is my desire to let others know that healing is possible through expressive art. This has been true for me. Working with colors, shapes, and rhythms can allow unconscious material to surface. Once the material is brought into conscious awareness, I found that I could metabolize and integrate it into my psyche. New patterns of behavior became possible… It is my hope that by reading these pages that you will be touched and healed in your own way,” wishes the author.
With expressive painting complementing her story, everyone will find this chapter of the author’s life a truly endearing and moving one.
This book will be featured at this year’s Illinois Library Association Book Exhibit in Chicago, IL on September 29-30, 2010.

About the Author
Katharine Stone Ayers is an artist who has lived in the Hawaiian Islands for the past thirty years. Her interest in writing began with English courses at Vassar College. “Since then I have continued to journal, write poetry and prose,” she reflects. She received her professional training at the Art Center School of Los Angeles and with many well-known artists. During art school she experienced healing through chiropractic and was inspired to become a Chiropractor. After practicing for ten years, she realized that emotions and belief systems affect the body profounly, so she returned to college and received a degree in Counseling Psychology, which included courses in art therapy. Currently she resides in Maui, where she continues her healing practice, paints watercolors and oils, make collages, writes poetry and prose, and walks her dog, Rosie, in the forest and the beach.
