In-Ground Operator Named Most Innovative Commercial Hardware Product for 2010.

2010’s Most Innovative Commercial Hardware Product, as recognized by the Crystal Achievement Awards from Glass Magazine, is the ED400-IG Automatic Operator from DORMA Entrance Systems. The awards recognize the best products and glass applications in today’s commercial, retail and fabrication markets. This year’s winners, selected by judges representing all segments of the glass industry, cover 30 categories.

The ED400-IG performs well in applications that combine a classic look with specialized access requirements, such as arched doors or all-glass façades. This revolutionary operator conceals the automatic components in the floor under the door threshold.
The ED400-IG functions in low-energy or full-power modes, for new construction and retrofits. DORMA developed the ED400-IG in partnership with Opcon Manufacturing Systems. The energy generated by the ED400 drive unit to the pivot allows consistent, smooth operation. The In-Ground Housing that stores the operator is just 7” deep. All ED400 operator functions, such as Push & Go, Power Close, and Lock Interface, are fully available in this application.

Comprising DORMA Architectural Hardware, DORMA Glas, Modernfold, and DORMA Entrance Systems™—which markets products and services under the DORMA Automatics, Crane Revolving Doors, and DORMA Carolina Door Controls brands, DORMA Group North America manufactures and markets a wide range of products for the architectural openings industry with a particular focus on commercial and institutional openings. DORMA Group North America is part of the DORMA Group worldwide, the world’s largest manufacturer of door controls.
