Singer-songwriter Joan Osborne will perform at the historic Sengelmann Hall for two intimate, special concerts held on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16, 2010. Osborne is best known for her hit, “One of Us,” which reached the #1 spot on the music charts in 1996. The song was reintroduced to younger audiences as the theme song for the Emmy-nominated television series "Joan of Arcadia" and will be featured on Fox’s Emmy winning series, “Glee” later this season.

This exclusive Texas appearance at Sengelmann Hall in Schulenburg, TX is part of Sengelmann’s “Big Weekend Show” live music promotions launched earlier this year with the goal of making the dance hall a destination venue. Joan Osborne: She’s One of Us will mark the hall’s second showcase of this caliber, hot off the heels of the Crystal Gayle concert held in the dance hall on August 7, 2010. The tour will showcase Joan Osborne's first acoustic performance as a duo in Texas with Keith Cotton on keys.

“Sengelmann Hall is rooted in bringing people together for special events,” said Heather Taylor, Director of Operations for Sengelmann Hall, LLC. It is our goal to bring fans to Schulenburg for Big Weekend Shows several times a year, so our patrons can witness legendary artists perform up close, in an intimate dance hall setting. We want to feature exclusive concerts, like Joan Osborne, for those music fans that relish in getting away for a memorable weekend or just stepping back in time for the night."

Since the Crystal Gayle show, management has been busy reconstructing the seating system in the dance hall. Sengelmann Hall’s new and improved seating system provides VIP ticket holder’s early admission to the best seats in the house, dinner, and admittance to a Pre-Show Party from 7:30-8:30pm when they will be served complimentary beverages. Joan Osborne has been confirmed to make an appearance at both pre parties for an up close and personal "meet and greet" with her VIP fans.

Front row tickets include special gift bags, a commemorative tee shirt, and discounted bottle service. The Platinum Party Section offers an affordable private section for groups of 6-12, which includes all of the VIP amenities plus one complimentary bottle service served with a spirit of choice. The new system provides VIP ticket holders assigned, preferred seating at the time of ticket purchase; and open seating for GA ticket holders located in specific sections at the rear of the hall. The new seating system eliminates the “standing room only” option, which is typically used as the setting for big dances. Doors open for General Admission at 8:30pm. Downstairs during dinner, Ruby James will open.

As part of Sengelmann Hall’s dedication to supporting local art groups, a percentage of ticket sales from Friday night’s show will be donated to Artpace and the Art Guild of Rural Texas in order to raise the needed funding to preserve art in education and contribute to the ongoing efforts of these outstanding non profit organizations dedicated to supporting art education in south Texas.

Osborne is known for her varying musical style, which ranges from country and western to Motown. Over the years, Osborne has recorded several albums and hit singles, which have found their place in blockbuster movies, such as “Raising Helen” and “Vanilla Sky.” Osborne has been featured herself on televisions shows, including “Divas Live for VH1,” “Austin City Limits;” and “Broadway’s Best.” Be sure to watch out for the song "One of Us" on an upcoming episode of "Glee." We heard that Finn will be singing it.

This will be Joan Osborne's first time performing at Sengelmann Hall.
