Cedar Rapids, IA (PRWEB) September 24, 2010
CRST International, Inc. one of the largest privately-held transportation companies in the country, today announced that it has been listed on the InformationWeek 500 for the third consecutive year. The list, which focuses on innovation in technology, ranked CRST International as #221. The companies were revealed at a gala awards ceremony held during the InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif.
“CRST is honored to be ranked among the country’s most innovative companies for the third year in a row,” said Dave Rusch, President and CEO of CRST International, Inc. “We see the value new technology brings to our company and pass that value on to our clients. Our IT staff works diligently to increase efficiency and provide new and better tools for increased customer service and to position us for growth in the future.”
The focus this past year was the implementation of a new ERP system for CRST Logistics. The project, Vision 2020, involved many people from Logistics, Accounting, and Technology working together to implement a system built on state of the art technologies, inclusive of CRM, VOIP, Web Portals, Real time dashboards, and a .net front end replacing a mainframe based character based system. The technologies and capabilities included in this project are part of an overall Technology Plan for CRST that continues to be updated and managed to meet the needs of the business.
The new system streamlines processes, allows better customer interaction, and faster response time to issues. The customer has access to more tools to conduct business when, how and where they want which provides flexibility and better service.
The CRST IT Department recognizes the opportunity new technology brings to better serving clients. “We continue to work our technology plan to equip our people with the tools they need to better serve our clients,” said Steve Hannah, Chief Information Officer.
“For 22 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “As we start to emerge from the worst recession in decades, the IT focus is now on driving growth—new sources of revenue, new relationships with customers, even new business models. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those companies and business technology executives leading that charge.”
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
