Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) Vice President of Development and Public Affairs Carrie Konosky, MBA, represented the Association at the Third Annual Africa and Middle East Oncology Forum in Cairo, Egypt. The conference, supported by Pfizer, brought together a panel of kidney cancer experts from across the globe, as well as regional experts.
Ms. Konosky spoke to an audience of nearly 250 physicians about the work of the KCA. She discussed the Association's history and current initiatives, specifically the work being done globally. The meeting provided an oppportunitiy to discuss future work in the region, in the hopes of better educating patients and physicians, and helping patients with access to treatment.
The panel of experts also included KCA Director and Medical and Scientific Steering Committee member, Dr. Christopher G. Wood, of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston.
The KCA (http://kidneycancer.org) reaches a global membership of more than 70,000 people from its suburban Chicago offices. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the charity's mission is the elimination of death and suffering from renal cancers. Its signature publication for patients, "We Have Kidney Cancer," is now available in 11 languages, free of charge, from the organization's website.
