Verbatim® Americas LLC, the information storage pioneer, is “backing up” National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October – and all year round throughout the end of 2010 – with a “supportive” debut collection of three pretty-in-pink products to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and community outreach projects. As part of the comprehensive campaign launching September 1, Verbatim will donate a portion of proceeds from sales of each item in its specially-assembled new PINK Matters! collection of data storage and computer peripheral products to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research.

“Verbatim is honored to contribute to this important cause,” said Verbatim Americas, LLC President Randy Queen. “We are hopeful that our partnership with this renowned Canadian breast cancer organization will bring us that much closer to finding the cures for this terrible disease that touches the lives of so many people each year.”

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer). In 2010, on average, 445 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week, and 100 Canadian women will die of breast cancer every week. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide.

The PINK Matters! campaign features an assortment of Verbatim’s most popular data storage and computer peripherals making their debut in attention-grabbing pink, such as the popular Store ‘n’ Go® USB Drive. Other products in the PINK Matters! line feature both product and packaging with printed pink ribbons and relief art of a dove to attract consumer attention.

Verbatim’s PINK Matters! initiative includes the following pink-themed products and donation amounts to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research:

  •     Store ‘n’ Go® USB Drive – Consumers can conveniently store and transport data on the easy-to-use hot pink 8GB drive in the unique pink-themed packaging, so that everything – from presentations to photos, video clips and music – is readily accessible from any computer! A password security feature built into the unit helps protect sensitive files. For Windows 7 and Vista users, Verbatim’s Store ‘n’ Go USB drive is enhanced for Windows® ReadyBoost™, which improves a PC’s performance by allowing it to use memory capacity on the flash drive to speed up system performance. (Donation: $1.00/unit)
  •     Nano Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse - Verbatim’s Nano Wireless Mouse features a pretty pale pink and boasts a receiver that’s small enough to plug into a laptop and leave it. This mouse offers 2.4 GHz wireless performance - that means no delays in cursor movements and fewer cords to pack. The receiver also slides right into the bottom of the mouse for safekeeping. The sleek design offers a smooth, contoured comfort grip for right or left hand and a programmable roller button – that means consumers can assign favorite features to the roller and make work easier. (Donation: $2.00/unit)
  •     Optical Travel Mouse Mini – Perfect for on-the-go use, Verbatim’s small-scale hot pink mini mouse is the must-have laptop and netbook companion! The portable mouse features a retractable cord and works with any computer equipped with a USB port. (Donation: $1.00/unit)

The company’s 2010-2011 campaign marks the first time Verbatim has participated in such a broad-scale charitable fund-raising and promotional drive, encouraging consumers to “Save your memories while helping a great cause!” In addition, Verbatim will participate in various retailer promotions to help further boost sales and, ultimately, donations for breast cancer research and community outreach projects. Verbatim’s PINK Matters! collection will be featured on prominent retail websites with feature pages dedicated to pink ribbon products. In addition, Verbatim’s new line will be presented on specialty displays at Staples Canada and Future Shop.
