“Most clients don’t need an attorney to represent them in their divorce, but they need some help along the way. We empower them to handle it on their own.”

Family law litigants, particularly in the money-crunched Bay Area, are frustrated with the high price of divorce attorneys on one hand, and the lack of quality advice at a reasonable cost on the other. Until now, there has not been an option for clients who cannot afford to hire a lawyer for their case but are dissatisfied with the free legal help available at clinics or county courthouses. Family law coaching bridges this gap, giving clients what they need without emptying their wallets.
Many attorneys have begun to offer limited scope representation, where the attorney is hired by the client for specific tasks as opposed to taking the entire case. But the California Family Law Coach has taken this concept a step further, basing its practice on helping divorce and family law clients to represent themselves in all aspects of their case. Clients can choose what kind of coaching they need based on their individual expertise, or lack thereof. Examples of coaching topics include legal strategy (“What am I entitled to?”), calculations of child and spousal support, trial or hearing preparation, drafting of documents, and developing settlement options.
“After spending years in traditional family law litigation, I realized that I could help clients in a better way,” says California Family Law Coach founder and attorney Christina McPherson. “Most clients don’t need an attorney to represent them in their divorce, but they need some help along the way. We empower them to handle it on their own.”
“We set ourselves apart by being flexible to the client’s need, tailoring the service to each individual,” Christina continues. “Most attorneys just have an all or nothing option. In addition, by directing their own case, clients frequently find that they are more satisfied with the process and the outcome than if they hand over their case to traditional representation.”
The California Family Law Coach provides hourly legal coaching in family law cases as well as traditional representation and family law mediation. The firm assists clients all over the Bay Area, including in the Alameda, Sonoma, Solano, Santa Clara, Napa, Contra Costa and San Mateo counties
