AEP has installed a three-stage treatment train including the StormwateRx Clara® plug-flow separator, the Aquip® enhanced filtration system, and a Purus™ metals polishing system.
New Haven, WV (PRWEB) September 28, 2010
StormwateRx LLC, a provider of industrial stormwater treatment and filtration systems, today announced that American Electric Power (AEP) has purchased and installed StormwateRx equipment that provides stormwater treatment for its Mountaineer Plant. AEP ranks among the nation’s largest generators of electricity, with nearly 38,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the U.S. The systems provided by StormwateRx process hotspot stormwater discharging from the Mountaineer Plant, preventing pollutants from reaching the Ohio River.
The primary targeted stormwater pollutants from the AEP Mountaineer Plant are iron, aluminum and zinc. AEP has chosen to treat a portion of the stormwater runoff in an area using a three-stage treatment train including the StormwateRx Clara® plug-flow separator, the Aquip® enhanced filtration system, and a Purus™ metals polishing system.
