Booth 1621, Los Angeles Convention Center, October 12 – 14, 2010

At the Solar Power International conference and expo, Emerson will highlight its leadership in technologies for renewable energy with demonstrations of solar inverters and power plant control technology from across its Network Power, Industrial Automation and Process Management business platforms.

Reflecting the breadth of the company’s initiatives in the solar market, these diverse Emerson businesses will showcase solar inverters ranging from 5 kW to 1.59 MW covering residential, small business, large industrial and utility scale applications, as well as distributed and supervisory control systems (DCS/SCADA) for solar power plants.

Visitors to booth 1621 will be able to see the new high-performance SPV-5.0 5 kW Grid Tie Solar Inverter for residential and small business applications from the Embedded Power business of Emerson Network Power. Emerson Network Power’s inverters are small and lightweight for time-saving installations and will be offered in isolated and non-isolated versions rated at 4 kW, 4.5 kW and 5 kW. Their rugged design with fanless convection cooling drives even higher levels of reliability. The SPV inverters can measure and record real-time and historical energy data from a connected PV array and wirelessly send this information to Emerson's Solar Monitor EEM1.0 with touch screen color display, which can be conveniently located in the home or office.

The Control Techniques business of Emerson Industrial Automation will showcase its SPV1800 1.06 MW utility scale photovoltaic inverter. Control Techniques SPV systems are a range of transformerless central inverters for PV installations from 145 kWp to 1.59 MWp. Each inverter utilizes a modular, master-master architecture constructed of 175 kW power modules. The modules are controlled by a Control Techniques Intelligent Inverter Management (IIM) system to maximize energy yield, improve inverter life and increase reliability.

Emerson Process Management’s Power & Water Solutions will demonstrate its Ovation™ distributed control system for concentrating solar power plants and Ovation SCADA system for solar PV plants. Emerson is the global leader in control systems for concentrating solar power (CSP) generation. The company offers fully integrated turbine controls, balance-of-plant controls and solar tracking controls, as well as fully integrated control and monitoring of inverters, solar tracking and meteorology.
