LA Kelley Communications takes its popular newsletter, PEN’s Insurance PULSE, on the road!

Pulse on the Road, sponsored by Baxter BioScience, was created to address a variety of insurance and healthcare reform topics of urgent importance to families with bleeding disorders. The program brings the pages of Pulse to life, turns the discussion interactive, and gives families a chance to ask questions and get answers in a live forum.

The first stop was Indianapolis, Indiana, for the Indiana Hemophilia Chapter annual meeting on August 28, 2010. An audience of 100 families shared real-life stories, discussed upcoming insurance changes, and enjoyed a Q&A forum. Expert speakers from several states also presented their own stories, scenarios, and solutions.

Audience members asked some great questions: Why must we wait until 2014 for some parts of the healthcare reform bill to be implemented? Will out-of pocket costs rise? Where can we go for more answers?

“Thanks for trying to make a ‘messy’ insurance/healthcare issue a little more tidy.” (Anonymous family member of a person with a bleeding disorder)

“Great session! I’ve been coming to the meeting for seven years and I’ve never gotten so much out of a session on insurance. Thanks.” (Anonymous family member of a person with a bleeding disorder)

Pulse on the Road’s next stop is Washington, DC, for Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area’s educational seminar on October 23.
