Tomas Bostrom, shamanic energy healer, staff instructor with the Healing the Light Body School, and certified Dying Consciously teacher, will present a training workshop on “Dying Consciously: The Greatest Journey.” The workshop will be presented Friday, October 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Unity Church of Ventura, 700 E. Main St.
“In the West we no longer remember how to die with grace and dignity,” Bostrom says. “We shuttle the dying off to hospitals where death is often considered a failure—the result of an unsuccessful battle with disease. Families are frequently without help at the passing of their loved one. Too many people die in fear, with unfinished business and unresolved issues.”
In contrast, the Dying Consciously workshop offers practical skills based on ancient shamanic wisdom that can help individuals die in peace, with a consciousness free of fear and negativity. It is designed for all persons involved in the dying process: the individual, family members, friends, hospice workers and other caregivers. The workshop is also for the living—“because a proper understanding of death helps us to reorder our priorities and live life more fully. It enables us to transform death into an ally,” Bostrom says.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
- The Luminous Energy Field—understanding the changes that take place in this reservoir of vital life force as an individual prepares for the Great Journey home.
- Great Life Review—giving the dying a chance to review their lives and complete unfinished business while still alive eases the Great Life Review that takes place in the spirit realm after death.
- Cleansing the Chakras—clearing the energy centers of the body so that accumulated traumas and toxins do not keep the luminous body earthbound.
- Great Death Spiral—rites for releasing the luminous body from the physical body immediately after death.
Of his work, Bostrom says, “I am so grateful to be able help bring this valuable body of knowledge to the world. Two years ago my mother became critically ill, and I was able to use the same skills at her bedside to ease her pain and suffering and assist her graceful transition to spirit. Perhaps an equally great gift was that these processes also helped my family experience her passing in a peaceful, loving and mindful way. It was then that I realized what a powerful and timely gift the Dying Consciously work is.”
Other workshop participants have had similarly meaningful experiences. “I used the death rites to release my Mom 39 hours after she passed,” said one woman. “It was powerful. I truly was able to feel her and say goodbye to her at that time.”
Completion of the Dying Consciously workshop qualifies participants to be certified as Dying Consciously volunteers through The Greatest Journey online network. Cost of the workshop is $125. Registration and payment in advance are required.
