Delta Air Lines’ (NYSE: DAL) maintenance division, Delta TechOps, has signed a three-year, multimillion dollar contract with Cimber Sterling Airlines to provide time and materials services for 11 CFM56-7B engines and Honeywell GTCP131-9B APUs for the airline’s fleet. The agreement was announced at the European MRO Conference held at London’s Excel, of which Delta TechOps is a sponsor.

After evaluating several highly respected European maintenance and repair organizations, Cimber Sterling chose Delta TechOps for its track record in customer service excellence, competitive pricing and ability to deliver a complete service offering, according to Steen Ingemann Jorgensen, B737 engineering manager at Cimber Sterling.

“Delta TechOps offers the experience, technical expertise and flexibility we need,” Jorgensen said. “As a smaller operator, an MRO’s ability to pick up and support tasks outside our core businesses is critical. Delta TechOps’ broad range of services along with a huge network and complete support capabilities provide enormous value.”

“This new contract is a testament to our team’s ability to provide efficiency, flexibility and quality that’s unmatched in the industry,” said Tony Charaf, president, Delta TechOps. “Our talented people are the sole reason Delta TechOps continues to be recognized by airlines around the world.”

Cimber Sterling, which provides flights to destinations throughout Europe and the Middle East as well as in Scandinavia and Denmark, operates a fleet of 28 large and small aircraft. The contract covers time and materials services for more than one-third of the fleet’s engines.
