Peoria, IL and Charlottetown, PE (PRWEB) September 30, 2010
The Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers (GPACS) announced today it has recently joined ScreenScape to distribute digital images of wanted suspects to public screen displays throughout their community, including Peoria bus stations. Officials of GPACS are hoping to create more awareness in the community by reaching residents and visitors in the places they frequent. GPACS is part of the Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association, Crime Stoppers USA as well as Crime Stoppers International.
Officer Doug Burgess, Coordinator for The Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers reported, "When we were introduced to ScreenScape we immediately saw the potential to increase awareness in our community. On a moment's notice our organization can tap into this network to send instant bulletins to screens in places where the public is gathering. This has enormous potential for us as it's very cost-effective for us to create a new campaign and update our notices as events unfold. We also use the service to promote local community events and have plans to use ScreenScape in our precincts to show police training videos, and more."
ScreenScape is best known as an online digital signage solution used by retail businesses for better onsite sales & marketing. It's ease-of-use and low-cost have helped spurred interest in digital signage even among operators of smaller single-location venues. ScreenScape also connects independent members of its service to each other to form an Internet community and connectedness makes it easy for digital content to be shared with and widely distributed among its members. This further encourages members of ScreenScape to form into collaborative groups.
As Officer Burgess explained, "As more local Crime Stoppers organizations join ScreenScape we can start to coordinate our campaigns with each unit right across the country. This offers us tremendous reach and gives us the means to get our bulletins out quickly to the public. The traditional method of printing posters was the only way to do it in the past - which is both slow and costly. On ScreenScape, with the click of a mouse, we are able to target specific places by location and as the ScreenScape Community continues to grow, so does the potential reach of our bulletins."
Kevin Dwyer, President & CEO of ScreenScape commented on the new project, "The potential to create an international Crime Stoppers digital signage network is very exciting. The power of our venue-oriented network extends in many different directions. While often our customers are interested in ScreenScape to take their sales and marketing message to targeted audiences inside our many member-venues, here we have law enforcement recognizing the inherent value of a globally-connected network of venues in the tough job of crime solving."
Dwyer continued, "We hear stories very similar to the Crime Stoppers example all the time, and across a range of public services - amber alerts, community health information, security and safety bulletins and more. It's wonderful to see our dedicated service organizations tapping into the ScreenScape Community and it's satisfying for us to see the utility of ScreenScape in the public sphere."
