Barclays is launching a new 6 year, stock market linked deposit, the Wealthbuilder Bond, that aims to return 31.2% over six years and can be taken out within a cash ISA.

The product aims to deliver an annual return of 5.2% for every year that the value of the FTSE 100 is higher than it was when the investment initially started. The return is payable on maturity after 6 years. If the FTSE 100 is not higher on the anniversary date no return is earned for that year.

Irrespective of the performance of the FTSE customers will be repaid their initial deposit on maturity after 6 years, although they could get back less than they deposited if they surrender before the maturity date.

“Customers can choose to take out the product either within or outside a cash ISA,” said Gary Duggan, Managing Director of Barclays Investments and Insurance. “Customers can also choose to transfer in previous ISAs.”

The Wealthbuilder Bond is available online, by phone and in branch. Customers comfortable buying the Bond without advice can review and purchase online at Barclays.co.uk/investments. Customers seeking advice on investments should go into Branch or call 0800 158 3204* and book an appointment with a Barclays Financial Planning manager.

Notes to Editors:
Investments up to £50,000 are covered under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, subject to eligibility and the scheme limits.

*Lines are open 8.30am-9pm Monday to Friday and 9am-5.30pm on Saturday.
