We added the 'image focus' trigger as a solution to publishers looking to monetize their galleries

The new ads offer increased ad functionality and feed support. Some improvements include easy integration of third-party rich media and ad tags from partners, browser-type detection to ensure ads are seen on mobile devices, and an “image focus” trigger in addition to the current mouseover trigger.
“We added the ‘image focus’ trigger as a solution to publishers looking to monetize their galleries,” said CEO Jesse Chenard. “With image focus, users who aren’t actively mousing over every image will still see our relevant In-Image ads. Now publishers can earn revenue from their photo galleries.”
These updates create more options for advertisers as well as for viewers of the ads. In addition to choosing between text, text with image, banner and rich media ads, advertisers can customize the background color of banner ads. Advertisers can also specify the advertisement positioning as left, right or middle.
To improve the user experience, the new text ads feature multi-ad functionality, so users can cycle through multiple targeted ads to learn more about a product or offer. The new ads are still permission based, so they will not prevent users from enjoying the content on the page. The ads minimize when the user mouses away from the image and the ads disappear permanently with the close button.
