The Pursell Group LLC, the parent company of the VET Recruiter ® is expanding despite the recession as the demand for their services has been steadily growing. The company has teamed up with Bassman Growth Advisory Partners to help them to expand their executive search practice 40% by 2014.

Bob Bassman is the founder and former CEO of the largest single site search firm in the United States before he sold the firm in 2004 and started Bassman Growth Advisory Partners, a consulting firm that offers ongoing executive coaching to search firm owners to help them grow their business. "Bassman is a legend in the search business", says Stacy Pursell, founder and CEO of The Pursell Group. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Bob."

Some people may want to know why The Pursell Group is expanding in a down economy. "Because our business is growing and we need to keep up with the demand for our services. Not only is there still a war for top talent,” says Pursell, “but some of our clients are getting inundated with resumes, many from unqualified candidates and they don't have the time to spend sorting through it all. When they have a critical need they prefer to bring in the experts to make sure they get the right people on board. Also, the best person for the position may not be looking for a position and is not involved in a job search so they aren't aware that our client's opening exists." Even in a down economy the most highly regarded individuals are most often employed and are not sending out resumes. Our client would not be able to identify or attract these individuals but not for our efforts. Our role is not to send a stack of resumes but to find the right person for the position and to get them to say yes. Also, we have clients who are expanding their businesses and rather than advertise to the world what they are doing, they prefer to hire under the radar so not to alert their competition. In addition we have clients who are upgrading their personnel and do not wish to advertise positions they need to fill. When some companies are laying off they are still hiring but in order to avoid bad PR they might use a search firm. There are many reasons companies use search firms in any type of economy. Pursell has already survived one recession. This is her second one and her business continues to thrive.

Pursell will continue to work a desk in addition to managing the daily operations of the firm. Pursell's own desk production is in excess of more than $5 million dollars and, according to Bassman she currently runs one of the highest producing desks in the search business in the United States where her focus is in the Animal Health, Veterinary, Pet Products and Agricultural industries. Her company plans to expand their business further into the agricultural side of the business and they plan to take on more international assignments too. The Pursell Group is planning to offer outplacement services and paid job search coaching and they are exploring the mergers and acquisitions business. In fact The Pursell Group just landed their first M&A client three weeks ago.
