SHA is poised for record growth."
Grapevine, TX (PRWEB) October 1, 2010
Security Health Advisors, L.L.C. (SHA) a growing national health insurance agency specializing in the self-employed and individual market, has announced the addition of Troy McQuagge to head its national sales operations.
“SHA is poised for record growth,” said McQuagge. “It’s a company made up of great people who subscribe to the same set of principles I have followed throughout my professional career. Many are longtime friends and colleagues whom I’ve known and worked with over the years; so my decision to come out of retirement and to work with them, again; was an easy one to make.”
McQuagge’s reputation for excellence is well-known in the insurance industry. He began his career with the Allstate Insurance Company in 1983. He joined the Student Insurance Division of United Insurance Companies Inc. (UICI) in 1995. Then in 1997, McQuagge was named president of UGA when Ron Jensen sold the privately-held agency to UICI. Under McQuagge's leadership, UGA set numerous single-year sales records.
When UICI was acquired by private equity investors in 2006, the corporate name was changed to HealthMarkets and McQuagge was tasked with leading all of the sales and marketing efforts within the company’s self-employed group. With McQuagge at the helm in 2007, the HealthMarkets’ Agency Marketing Group (AMG) exceeded $1 Billion in eligible sales volume and was recognized as the Insurance Sales Organization of the Year, by Selling Power Magazine and the Stevie Awards. After leading the company's sales efforts for more than a decade, McQuagge retired in March, 2008. During his tenure with the company, the value of its stock increased from a low of $5.18 per share in May, 2000 to more than $44.00 per share in December, 2007.
Of McQuagge’s decision to return to the industry, Ben Cutler, CEO of USHEALTH Group, Inc. said, “Having known Troy for a number of years, I am confident of his ability to build a dynamic sales organization. His historical results are unrivaled in the agency business. From my perspective, Troy’s approach to business; his strategic innovation and most importantly, his leadership; all serve to strengthen SHA’s unique competitive advantages.”
McQuagge joins SHA amidst historic periods of transition within the health insurance industry. “While retired, I had ample opportunity to follow the course of developments, regarding Health Care Reform,” said McQuagge. “The greatest challenge that I see facing health insurance executives today is how to fulfill the requirements of Health Care Reform legislation while meeting the needs of customers and agents; and at the same time, meeting shareholder demand for profitability. From my perspective, SHA and USHEALTH Group are uniquely positioned to react, not only to these challenges, but the opportunities that will be created by Health Care Reform. I’m looking forward to getting back to work, capitalizing on the opportunities and building another great sales organization.”
