RiceSelect™ Launching Its “A World of Flavors” Rice Recipe Contest

RiceSelect™, producer of specialty rice, couscous and orzo products, is launching its first-ever “A World of Flavors” rice recipe contest. Powered by RiceSelect’s recently launched Facebook page, the company will award $500 to the most creative, best tasting and easiest-to-prepare recipe created by its Facebook fans. In addition to one grand prize winner, one finalist will be awarded $250 and the third through fifth place finalists will receive a RiceSelect gift pack. Only original and unpublished rice recipes – including appetizers, soups, salads, side dishes, main dishes or desserts – are eligible for the contest.

Starting September 27, 2010, RiceSelect’s Facebook fans may submit original rice recipes made with Texmati® white, brown or light brown long grain rice products, along with an image of their entry. Deadline for entering the contest is November 8, 2010. Recipes must be easy to prepare with no more than six ingredients (excluding butter, cooking oil, water, salt and ground black pepper), and must use at least one cup of uncooked Texmati rice.

A panel of culinary professionals will determine the top 10 submissions, based on taste, ease of preparation, appearance and creativity. The top 10 finalists will then be put to vote among the company’s Facebook fans to decide the first place winner. Fans can vote until November 30. The winner will be announced on December 6, 2010.

“Whether used in pilaf or pudding, risotto or sushi, the unsurpassed versatility, convenience, economical value and nutritional benefits of Texmati rice makes it a natural ‘go to’ food for quick and easy meals,” says Deborah Locke, product manager and test kitchen director for RiceSelect.

The contest is open to adults 18 years and older who are citizens of the United States. Employees of RiceSelect and their agencies are not eligible to compete.
