About the Author
Native to Brooklyn, New York, Joan L. R. Foley attended P.S. 197 and James Madison H.S. A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, she received a B.A. in History. Upon relocating to Massachusetts, she pursued her study in the field of education and earned a M.Ed. from Boston University and a C.A.G.S. from Bridgewater State College. She taught Social Studies at Cohasset Junior/Senior H.S. in Massachusetts and, later, at South Kingstown H.S. in Rhode Island. Given the career she loved for thirty-five years, the decision to retire in 2008 was difficult. Doing so, however, has allowed more time for volunteering. Residing in Warwick, Rhode Island with her husband, Foley is most grateful to him, family and friends for giving her the push to publish.
