It's been 20 years since the theatrical release of Hal Hartley's critically acclaimed first feature film, The Unbelievable Truth, in which he introduced audiences to the talents of Adrienne Shelly, Edie Falco, and Robert John Burke.

Hal Hartley's company, Possible Films, is re-releasing his classic American Independent social satire "The Unbelievable Truth" on DVD October 19 in a thoroughly redesigned package. Special Features include a never-before-seen documentary featuring many of the director's most memorable collaborators like Martin Donovan, Thomas Jay Ryan, Robert John Burke, and the late Adrienne Shelly. The DVD will be available exclusively from the Possible Films online store at possiblefilms.com

"The Unbelievable Truth" was first released in North America by Miramax Films in 1990 following its highly popular screenings at the Toronto and Sundance film festivals. It was a popular release worldwide and came to represent the freshness and audacity of smaller-budgeted independently financed films from America. Hartley has gone on to make many other award winning features including Trust, Henry Fool, Amateur (with Isabelle Huppert) and Fay Grim (with Parker Posey and Jeff Goldblum). He completed principal photography on his newest feature, Meanwhile, in New York on September 22, 2010.
