The Alliance for U.S. India Business Signs Memorandum of Understanding with iNDEXTb

On Thursday, September 15, 2010, President and CEO Sanjay Puri of the Alliance for U.S.-India Business (AUSIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between iNDEXTb -- the industrial extension bureau of the Government of Gujarat -- and AUSIB. The MOU is a general guideline pursuant to which iNDEXTb and AUSIB will work together to advance mutual trade, economic, and industrial cooperation.

AUSIB plays a very crucial role in bringing people together by providing a platform where investors, technology providers, and developers can discuss, analyze, and then move forward with business ventures in India.

On Thursday, September 15, 2010, President and CEO Sanjay Puri of the Alliance for U.S.-India Business (AUSIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between iNDEXTb -- the industrial extension bureau of the Government of Gujarat -- and AUSIB. The MOU is a general guideline pursuant to which iNDEXTb and AUSIB will work together to advance mutual trade, economic, and industrial cooperation.

The MOU was signed in conjunction with the U.S. visit of a high-level business delegation from Gujarat. The delegation was led by Mr. D.J. Pandian, IAS -- Principal Secretary of the Energy and Petrochemicals Department of the Government of Gujarat -- and was composed of CEOs and senior executives representing not just the energy and petrochemical sector but six other key industry sectors as well. From September 13-16, the delegation visited New York City and Washington, DC with the mission of recruiting U.S. participation for the biennial Vibrant Gujarat Summit slated to take place from January 12-13 in 2011.

“AUSIB plays a very crucial role in bringing people together by providing a platform where investors, technology providers, and developers can discuss, analyze, and then move forward with business ventures in India,” said Mr. Pandian during his visit to Washington, DC.

Mr. Samir Patel -- Managing Director of Amos Enterprises, Limited and member of the delegation -- also made specific reference to future relations between AUSIB and Gujarat. “AUSIB is doing excellent work. Many Gujarat-based companies already retain the services of AUSIB for their operations in the U.S. During our time in Washington, we discussed arrangements where an office of AUSIB should be opened in Gujarat as well.”

The 2011 Summit is scheduled to take place at the Mahatma Mandir in the State capital at Gandhinagar. Vibrant Gujarat 2011 -- the 5th Summit aims to facilitate investment alliances for the participating countries. Gujarat is the leading industrialized State of India. It houses a number of multinational corporations, large private sector companies, strong public sector enterprises, and a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises. With only 5 percent of the Indian population, Gujarat contributes 21 percent in exports and 13 percent of India’s industrial production.
