On Thursday, September 15, 2010, President and CEO Sanjay Puri of the Alliance for U.S.-India Business (AUSIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between iNDEXTb -- the industrial extension bureau of the Government of Gujarat -- and AUSIB. The MOU is a general guideline pursuant to which iNDEXTb and AUSIB will work together to advance mutual trade, economic, and industrial cooperation.
The MOU was signed in conjunction with the U.S. visit of a high-level business delegation from Gujarat. The delegation was led by Mr. D.J. Pandian, IAS -- Principal Secretary of the Energy and Petrochemicals Department of the Government of Gujarat -- and was composed of CEOs and senior executives representing not just the energy and petrochemical sector but six other key industry sectors as well. Mr. Samir Patel -- Managing Director of Amos Enterprises, Limited and member of the delegation -- also made specific reference to future relations between AUSIB and Gujarat. “AUSIB is doing excellent work. Many Gujarat-based companies already retain the services of AUSIB for their operations in the U.S. During our time in Washington, we discussed arrangements where an office of AUSIB should be opened in Gujarat as well.”
