Like for me, it’s the simple pleasures, / warm house, / loving spouse, / good friends, / favorite eat or drink, / having good health. / These are just some things, / that I believe makes up, / a good world.

In an absorbing, thoughtful, and evocative anthology of poems, poet-author Trent Sigler invites readers to take this personal journey of mind and heart with him. With the release of his newly published book, Gateway to a Poetry Wonderland, he opens the gates to his poetic creations.

From a pool of diverse subjects, the author dives through the depths to pull out thoughts, sentiments, and reminiscences that are sure to evoke emotions and provoke views from readers; those that they may seldom consider or oftentimes overlook. With a gamut of subjects—courage, days of life, family, friends, humor, love, sports, and more—engagingly woven in a poetic tapestry, readers will find this poem collection a truly endearing one.

Through a metaphorical expression of courage, he pens, “A bird in the nest ready to fly, / watching the older birds in the sky. / Wishing the day would hurry up and come, / so he can spread his wings and adventure off. / Everyday he tries and he tries, / yet he’s not strong enough so he cries and cries. / …The little bird was tired of all the teasing and the dreaming, / so he made it a reality right then and there. / He started to spread his wings, headed toward the sky untouched. / The other birds couldn’t believe their eyes, / baby bird was flying so high…” He portrays the simple pleasures of life as he writes, “Like for me, it’s the simple pleasures, / warm house, / loving spouse, / good friends, / favorite eat or drink, / having good health. / These are just some things, / that I believe makes up, / a good world.” Also, he shows that each one is unique and must always be true to oneself as he goes, “Trying to be a friend. / Trying to fit in. / Some people want you to be something you are not. / Find yourself from within, / because you know who you are. / It seems like a lot of people will try to change you…” These are just some of the very many expressive verses found in this book of poetry. More poems await readers as they enter Sigler’s Gateway to a Poetry Wonderland.

This book will be featured at the 2010 New York Library Association Book Exhibit in Saratoga Springs, NY on November 2-5, 2010. For more information on this book, log on to Xlibris.com.
