Into the Blue is proud to announce that the activity gift voucher company has joined forces with the Historic Aircraft Collection to launch a very special experience gift to honour the 70th anniversary of those men who flew for the Battle of Britain between the 10th July and 13th October 1940.
Launched to coincide with BBC television’s Battle of Britain Season, which broadcasts a series of documentaries and films looking at the battle ‘of the few’, Into the Blue is keen to offer this very special gift for men experience who will appreciate the enormity of just what a contribution classic ‘warbirds’ like the Spitfire made to the war effort.
It is very befitting that Into the Blue is involved in this new gift activity, as the company is based at Biggin Hill Airport, one of the principal RAF fighter bases during the Battle of Britain. The airfield saw hundreds of Spitfires and Hurricanes take off to fight the Messerschmitt BF’s of the Nazi Luftwaffe over the skies of Britain and France.
These ‘Fly with a Spitfire’ experiences make perfect gifts for men who love these iconic fighter planes. With that distinctive Rolls Royce Merlin engine, the sight of a Spitfire cutting serenely through the sky is a very emotional moment for all involved.
To get up close and personal to this magnificent aircraft, a helicopter is deployed to fly along the Kent coastline and the Historic Aircraft Collection’s Spitfire G-MKVB in full battle livery will fly in formation next to the guests in the chopper. All participants get excellent views of the Spitfire and close-ups for air-to-air photographs.
Pilot Charlie Brown is a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF and when he’s not flying his beloved Spitfire BM597, he is teaching flying at RAF Cranwell. Charlie is a man who has a true gift for flying and has taken part in flying displays all over the world.
These Spitfire experiences take place out of RAF Manston in Kent and fly along the coastline. This gift, which is suitable for men and women of all ages, is available from March through to October and will be operated by Spitfire BM597, which was one of only 1000 Spitfires to be built at Castle Bromwich.
