Songkick.com Wins Best Innovation Award at the 2010 BT Digital Music Awards

Songkick.com, the home for live music on the web, today announced it won the Judges Choice award for Best Innovation or Gadget at the 2010 BT Digital Music Awards, BT’s annual tribute to the music industry’s digital stars. Songkick beat out other UK contenders Soundcloud, BandCentral, BuzzDeck, Pledge Music, and SoundOut.

Songkick beat out other UK contenders Soundcloud, BandCentral, BuzzDeck, Pledge Music, and SoundOut.

Now the second largest live music destination after LiveNation.com, Songkick allows fans to track concerts for their favorite artists and receive tour alerts for their area. Songkick indexes over 100 different ticket vendor and venue websites to create the most comprehensive database of live music information on the web, ensuring that fans will never miss another concert once signed up to the service. Songkick’s iTunes application automatically tracks all bands in a user’s iTunes library.

BT announced the winners from 21 different categories at an awards ceremony in London at Camden’s Roundhouse on Thursday 30 September. This year saw the introduction of some new categories for 2010 including Best Place to Hear, Discover and Buy Music, Best Event and Best Music App to reflect the increased audience engagement and rapid developments in technology that the music industry has seen in recent years enabling music fans to access their favourite music when and where they want.

Songkick is with the fan throughout their live music experience. Fans can use Songkick to discover upcoming concerts, buy tickets, and invite friends. After the show, they can upload photos, videos, posters, setlists, and more to share their live music experience. Songkick’s historical database includes over 1.6 million past concerts stretching back to the 1960s.

Previously, Billboard magazine listed Songkick as one of the top 10 digital music startups of 2010.
