I was intrigued by the transparent effect of watercolors, and I wanted to translate the concept of a seamless color transition to wood veneer
Inglewood, CA (Vocus) October 5, 2010
Sally Sirkin Lewis, Hall-of-Fame designer welcomes art conscious design lovers to the New York showroom October 6th for the ground-breaking introduction of Ombré a revolutionary achievement in decorative furniture finishing.
Sally Sirkin Lewis, President and Founder, of J. Robert Scott, Inc. the internationally known luxury furniture and textile manufacturer opens the doors of the New York showroom on October 6th in the D&D Building (979 Third Avenue New York 10022) to unveil the proprietary finishing technique on selected new designs. “I was intrigued by the transparent effect of watercolors, and I wanted to translate the concept of a seamless color transition to wood veneer,” explains Ms. Lewis. The resulting finishes accentuate the inherent characteristics of the wood and exhibit subtle gradients in intensity and shade from dark to light, producing a distinctive, individual effect on each veneer.
Three years in development, J. Robert Scott’s innovative concept has never been attempted as a decorative furniture finish, and marks a milestone in the design field. Ombré Veneer is offered in select colorways, but rather than associate the finishes with a specific color, Ms. Lewis has chosen to christen them with the evocative names Ombré Daybreak™, Ombré Twilight ™, Ombré Mist ™, Ombré Thunder™, and Ombré Storm ™. Because of the nature of this proprietary technique, a Utility Patent has been filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to safeguard the process. A U.S. Utility Patent is pending. http://www.uspto.gov/.
