Transfer Flow, Inc., a Chico, California-based fuel system manufacturer, will hold a launch event at their manufacturing facility on Thursday, October 7, 2010 to introduce the company’s breakthrough diesel particulate filter (DPF) system that has been proven to dramatically improve air quality performance of older Tier 0 stationary and portable engines at a fraction of the cost of engine replacement. Representatives from the board of supervisors, city council members from cities throughout the county as well as university and college representatives are expected to attend.
Speakers will include, Erik Gustafson, City of Chico Fleet Manage, who has acquired a Transfer Flow DPF System for certain equipment owned by the City of Chico, and David Lusk Senior Air Quality Engineer, Butte County Air Quality Management Resources. The event will take place at Transfer Flow’s manufacturing facility at 1444 Fortress Street in Chico at 11:00 a.m.
The Transfer Flow DPF system has been engineered to enable older diesel-powered equipment to meet California and Butte County’s stringent Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions regulations by removing particulate matter--or soot--from the exhaust of a diesel engine. The solution will allow Tier 0 stationary and portable emissions engine owners--a group that includes municipalities, schools, farm owners and small and medium businesses--to retrofit their existing equipment to comply with state and county regulations rather than expend the high cost of new equipment replacement. Retrofitting costs approximately 15 percent of the cost to replace most engines.

Recently the Transfer Flow technology underwent and passed rigorous “Method 5” testing that proved it has a certifiably-compliant solution. New diesel engines can cost between $40,000 and $60,000.
