MyBuilder.com ad features tradesmen hot, oiled and well tooled up!

It's hard to believe that only a few years ago I was serving all over the world for the UN as a Paratrooper and now I am about to enter people's living rooms up and down the country dressed in not much more than a tool belt!

Newcastle-born Martin Dornan is an ex-paratrooper turned heating engineer who is now gracing the nation's screens in his dynamic debut as a TV actor in the new advertising campaign for MyBuilder.com.

Martin joins other scantily clad and well-oiled tradesmen as part of MyBuilder.com's ad campaign, created by independent advertising agency Sell! Sell!, launching across TV, VOD, online and print.

MyBuilder.com is an online marketplace set up in 2008 by former stonemason Ryan Notz, which efficiently connects homeowners with reputable tradespeople, meaning users can find whoever they need as quickly as possible - whether they're after a tiler, plasterer or many more. The website uses a feedback system to instil trust back into the industry and was recently named by Startups.co.uk as one of the top 10 businesses in the country.

The commercial, directed by Mark Denton, shows the website as a beauty parade of builders, who try to win the approval of homeowners. The builders, who come in all shapes and sizes, strut their stuff in matching blue Speedos and a selection of 'tools'.

Sell! Sell! collaborated with MyBuilder in the creative process - when it came to casting they knew they wanted a mix of genuine looking tradesmen. To compliment the other actors they turned to the only logical place to find a multi-talented builder in the UK: MyBuilder.com.

London plumber Martin Dornan was found ripe for stardom and catapulted from repairing leaky pipes to posing nearly nude holding a giant spanner on the set of the hottest ad campaign in the country: Builder Beauty Pageant.

"It's hard to believe that only a few years ago I was serving all over the world for the UN as a Paratrooper and now I am about to enter people's living rooms up and down the country dressed in not much more than a tool belt!", said Martin. "I was nine years in the army and felt that it was time for a change. I trained as a heating engineer in Newcastle and registered on MyBuilder.com to help me find work. The recession hit hard so I headed for London. Not only have I tapped into a constant stream of plumbing jobs through MyBuilder.com, I've also discovered new talents!"

Ryan Notz, owner of MyBuilder said: "The campaign helps to illustrate how MyBuilder works and why people find it so useful." Finding the right builder in London or electrician in Eccles, for example, to make major changes to a home, big or small, can be a daunting task, he added: "MyBuilder helps homeowners compare tradesmen by giving them access to what really matters: what a tradesman does best, their full work history and genuine reviews from other homeowners. The Builder Beauty pageant is a creative, intelligent and humorous campaign, which creates an entertaining visual analogy for the product itself."
